The Mountains Are Calling, and I Must Go...
"The mountains are calling, and I must go..." is the most famous quote from the writings of John Muir, a Scottish-American naturalist and conservationist in the late 1800's. Muir was an advocate for preserving the American wilderness, and did great work to help protect many national parks we still enjoy today, including Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park. Muir was the founder of the Sierra Club, which still does conservation work.
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.” ― John Muir, The Mountains of California
He often wrote of his love for the mountains, and inspired many to explore the world around them. We dedicate this post to him, and encourage you to go out and climb every mountain this weekend, in his honor.
